How This Glass Spigot Is Built
A glass spigot is the small but critical load-bearing part of every frameless glass railing, and model C491 is built for specifiers who cannot afford movement at the base. The body is investment cast in a single piece, then machined on CNC centres so the glass slot stays parallel from end to end. Because the body and the base plate are one casting, the glass spigot transfers wind load and crowd load directly into the substrate instead of relying on welded joints.
Four countersunk holes on the square base plate accept M10 expansion anchor bolts, which we supply with every set, so the glass spigot can be fixed to concrete, masonry or steel embed plates on site. A brushed stainless cover plate slides over the base afterwards, hiding the bolts and giving the finished glass clamp the clean, uninterrupted look designers ask for. Inside the slot, a continuous rubber gasket protects the glass edge and isolates the panel from metal contact.
Two locking screws on the face of the glass spigot allow the installer to fine-tune plumb after the panel is set, which is normally the slowest step on a balustrade project. Choose SUS 304 for inland sites and SUS 316 for coastal or poolside projects where chlorides attack standard stainless. Each glass clamp is available in satin or mirror finish, and we can match your glass thickness and base plate footprint on request.
